TU thanks fans for $55,000 raised for Hurricane Harvey relief
The University of Tulsa extends a sincere “thank you” to the Tulsa community who purchased football game tickets from Sept 1-9, and for those Tulsans who dropped off donated items that benefitted Hurricane Harvey Relief victims.
The financial amount raised through ticket revenue for Hurricane Harvey Relief totaled $55,000.
All funds go directly to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, which is coordinated through the Greater Houston Community Foundation (GHCF), a 501(c)(3) public charity. For more information on the GHCF, please visit www.ghcf.org.
Items that TU Athletics collected for Hurricane Harvey victims was delivered to Houston on Sunday by Miller Truck Lines. The donated items were sent to the Northeast area of the Houston Independent School District (HISD), including one early childhood campus, four elementary campuses, one middle school and the North Forest High School. Hurricane Harvey impacted nearly 80-percent of the families in the area, while two of the school campuses were destroyed.
Some families of the over 30 Golden Hurricane student-athletes from the Houston-area were affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
