I anchor the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts at Tulsa's Channel 8 with Neile Jones.
I've taken the coast-to-coast-to-coast route to make my home in Tulsa. I grew up out west in Oregon, where I worked for many years, then made stops in west Texas, Virginia and Las Vegas before taking the job as 5 p.m. anchor/reporter at KTUL in 1996.
Along the way, I've covered billion-dollar pot raids in Oregon, earthquakes in California, hurricanes along the east coast, flooding along the Mississippi, entertainers in Vegas and tornadoes in Oklahoma. Never a dull moment! That's what I love about news.
Of course, there's more to life than that.
For years I've been involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma in its challenge to match single-parent boys and girls with adult mentors. I emcee BBBS's "Taste of Tulsa" black-tie fundraiser every year. I also love to encourage kids to read through the Tulsa City/County Library system, and I speak at schools, churches and other events.
When I'm not working, my wife and I love to bike, hike, ski, walk the dogs and spend time with our three boys. Two of them are graduates of the University of Oklahoma, while the youngest is now attending classes there. We spend many fall weekends in Norman, rooting on the Sooners!
Thanks for watching Tulsa's Channel 8 and inviting me into your home every night.
