Scorching Saturday on the way
We are still in the heart of winter but our recent temperatures have felt more like Spring and Saturday will be no exception. Highs are Saturday are forecast to soar into the mid 80s with plenty of sunshine and gusty southerly winds. An afternoon high of 84 would make Saturday the warmest day we've seen this early in the year in 100 years! To find a warmer day, we would have to look back to February 1st, 1911 when the afternoon temperature reached an unbelievable 90 degrees.
This follows the record breaking start to the week. On Monday when we broke a 10 year old record with a high of 76.
Snow lovers, now is your time to look away. It looks like the very warm, dry weather pattern will continue into the extended forecast. The outlook for February 10th-17th calls for above average temperatures.
The dry weather pattern in the extended forecast raises big concerns for our continued drought and dangerous fire conditions across the state. Thanks to our soggy start to January, we are about an inch and half above rainfall for the year but it won't be long before that surplus turns into a deficit if the dry pattern continues.
